Does your VPN help your game connection?
Choose your game and run a quick check with your VPN off, then on. Compare browser response times and exit locations, then check the result in your game before you queue.
- Same target. Same test. Two connections.
- Cloud region references, side by side
- Router checks and a shareable report
Your VPN off / on results
Turn off your VPN if you want a VPN-off baseline. We cannot switch it or verify its setting for you.
Local preview · connection metadata is demo data; comparison verdicts are disabled.
Your measurements will appear here after the baseline.
This result applies to the measured browser paths. It does not prove your game uses the VPN or predict its ping.
Your own note for the report; it is not a detected VPN location or provider.
Primary test: HTTPS to Cloudflare’s IPv4 endpoint (1.1.1.1). It measures browser response time, not ICMP, game-server ping or UDP packet loss. The anycast address stays the same; the serving edge may change.
UDP packet loss: not tested. Failed HTTP requests are shown separately.
Which location are you looking at?

—
Exit country comes from the test IP; city and ASN, when available, describe the separate IPNixa request. Neither gives a full route. The selected cloud region is not a confirmed game-server location.
Full hop-by-hop routing and the route used by your game are not measured here. VPN tunnels can also hide intermediate hops.
Compare cloud region references
| Cloud reference | Baseline median | VPN median | Change |
|---|
Each region uses one warm-up and three HTTPS requests to an AWS DynamoDB endpoint. The browser cannot read its HTTP status (opaque response). Times are references, not verified game reachability. Compare each region with itself before and after.
What should you check next?
- Open the game’s own network statistics and compare ping in the same matchmaking region. A lower cloud reference does not guarantee the game is hosted there.
- Repeat over Ethernet, or close to your Wi-Fi access point. Pause downloads, cloud backups and streams before comparing VPN locations.
- Check split tunneling: include the game executable and its launcher in your VPN app. A browser-only proxy may change this page while your game stays on the regular connection.

Ping and connection checks for your game
Start with your game’s own ping and network stats. These checks help you compare VPN off and on; the browser test uses the same public endpoints for every game.
VALORANT
Keep your selected server the same for both runs. Check the game’s network statistics during a match; a different browser exit does not establish which route VALORANT uses.
Fortnite
Keep the Matchmaking Region fixed. Compare in-game network stats in a match; different matches can use different subregions. Epic also provides official ping endpoints for a device-side follow-up.
Apex Legends
Use the same Data Center for both runs. In Settings → Gameplay, turn on Performance Display to compare the game’s latency and packet loss with this browser snapshot.
Counter-Strike 2
Check CS2’s own network telemetry and keep the matchmaking region consistent. Game relay routing can differ from this public HTTPS reference; browser latency does not measure the match server.
League of Legends
Compare the latency reported inside a match on the same game region. If the browser improves but the game does not, check split tunneling and the game’s connection troubleshooting steps.
Minecraft
Keep the same server address and edition. If friends cannot join a server you host, use the separate CGNAT and port checks; this latency comparison cannot verify open UDP ports.
World of Warcraft
Keep the same region, realm and game version for both runs. Check WoW’s Home and World latency separately in the game; the active World server can differ between groups or instances. This browser test does not measure either in-game connection.
Dota 2
Keep the same matchmaking region and compare Dota 2’s in-game ping and packet loss with your VPN off and on. A lower browser ping does not show that the game’s relay route improved.
PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS
Pause downloads and keep the same mode and region where available. Compare in-game ping and packet loss; maintenance or a different match can affect the result. This option is for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, not PUBG Mobile.
Roblox
Stay in the same experience and server if possible, and compare its network stats. Separate high ping from low FPS: graphics or device lag can remain even when the browser test improves.
Call of Duty: Warzone
Compare in-game latency and packet loss in the same mode. Each match may use a different server. Packet burst and low FPS need separate checks; this browser test cannot tell you what caused them.
Rocket League
Keep the same matchmaking region. On PC, open Settings → Interface → Performance Graphs and choose a network graph. Compare Latency, In Loss and Out Loss with your VPN off and on; browser requests do not measure those game packets.
Gaming VPN, router and ping questions
A change must exceed both 5 ms and 10% of the baseline median to get a direction label. If p95 or variation moves materially the other way, the result is mixed. This is a practical comparison rule, not a statistical significance test.
How do I compare gaming ping before and after a VPN?
Keep the same network, target and measurement length. Run the baseline with your VPN off, connect the VPN and repeat. Read median, p95 and failures together, then check the actual game in the same region. A single faster response is not enough to establish an improvement.
Why did my VPN change my IP but not my game ping?
A changed browser IP confirms a different browser exit, not a faster path or the game’s VPN setting. The game may be excluded by split tunneling, use a different destination, or have a similar route. Check the VPN application rules and in-game network statistics.
How can I check a router VPN before gaming on a console?
Run this comparison from a device assigned to the same router VPN policy, then verify the console’s own connection test. Per-device router rules and IPv6 can differ. This page cannot read router settings, assign a console NAT type or prove that console traffic enters the tunnel.
Which VPN location should I test for my game region?
Start with locations near you and near the game region, keeping that game region fixed. Compare the cloud references before and after each setting, then confirm in-game. Geographic proximity alone cannot establish the fastest route, and game region availability depends on the game and account.
Why is browser ping low but game ping high?
They can use different destinations, protocols and routes. Matchmaking region, Wi-Fi contention, background traffic or a game-specific path can affect your game independently. This tool measures small HTTPS requests; it cannot read game traffic or distinguish network lag from rendering or FPS problems.
Does the location display show my full gaming route?
No. It separates the observed browser exit, the Cloudflare test edge and the chosen cloud reference. To investigate intermediate hops, collect traceroute or MTR from the gaming device. VPN tunnel hops and routers that do not reply may remain invisible.
Does this test check packet loss, DNS leaks or open UDP ports?
No. HTTP failures are not a UDP packet-loss measurement. DNS record lookup is not a DNS leak test, and an open TCP port does not establish UDP reachability. Use the linked privacy and hosting tools for their separate checks and read each result’s scope.
